GUIDELINES

AGE REQUIREMENTS & GENERAL THEMESAs of 2022, ThreeClans officially became an 18+ roleplay server. When the roleplay began, many of our members were young, but as our server aged, the member base has aged with it.Nowadays, all members within ThreeClans are above the age of 18, and we require all prospective applicants to be 18+ in turn. However, this does not mean that ThreeClans as a roleplay features any themes or content that would be inappropriate for a general teenage audience. Dark themes may be explored in roleplay, but we do not allow extremely gruesome elements or NSFW content to be included in our roleplay.SERVER ATMOSPHERE & TYPE OF ROLEPLAYThreeClans is, on the whole, a semi-realistic server that is generally held to the same standards of realism as the first arc of Warrior Cats. This means that our roleplay tends to be more traditional in its approach to Clans and culture. Involvement of StarClan is kept minimal, as they stand in mostly as ancestors and fallen kin rather than a true "religion," and most "supernatural" elements of the roleplay are kept grounded.Canonically, the location for ThreeClans is kept vague to allow exploration of atmospheres and animals that may not naturally be present together in any particular "real life" setting. Generally, though, the enviornment is similar to that of the Northern United States, featuring four distinct seasons and terrain that does not stray too far into highly specialized locations such as deserts or tundras. The Clan structure of ThreeClans is again similar to the structure of canon first arc Warrior Cats clans. Each one features a leader, a deputy, a medicine cat, warriors, apprentices, queens, and elders. Some groups, such as FogClan or The Trove of Twisted Tunnels, may explore more unique ranking systems or traditions.Naming, though not kept strictly traditional, does have a few limitations within ThreeClans. Generally, prefixes and suffixes must be feasible nature based terms, or otherwise words that feral cat colonies would possibly be familiar with. In NettleClan, CreekClan, and JaggedClan, prefixes like Sun-, Moon-, and Star- are not permitted, though FogClan does not boast such restrictions, and The Trove of Twisted Tunnels is far more flexible in their naming schemes, though they do feature a distinct season-based system for determining suffixes. If you would ever like to get an idea of the sort of names permitted in our group, feel free to DM a mod or send in an ask to the blog, or simply browse through the many pieces of tagged character art featured on our Tumblr! For more specifics, always feel free to contact a mod or send in a Tumblr ask!ROLEPLAY FORMAT & LENGTHIn ThreeClans, members are expected to roleplay in paragraph format, where a typical response is usually no shorter than four sentences. We have no technical requirement on how much you may write, and the general length of responses varies from roleplayer to roleplayer, but if you are not familiar with roleplaying in a literate, paragraph style format, our roleplay may not be the right place for you.If you follow this link, you may see an example of a shorter post from our server. If you follow this link, you may see an example of a longer post from our server.ThreeClans has no requirement when it comes to what tense you may write in, but all posts must be in a third person POV, and must be marked at the start of the post by a character's name indicated in bold text. To signal to your roleplay partner that you have posted, you must @ them in a ping at the conclusion of your post.TIME PROGRESSION & AGINGThreeClans is a roleplay run on real life time based around the EST time zone. This means that each new day begins at 12 AM EST and ends at 11:59 PM EST. One real life day is the equivalent to one roleplay day, and characters will age up at the beginning of each new month. This makes the roleplay flow naturally, and allows our members to keep track of time in a way that does not require any additional timeline math.In the instance of events involving a large quantity of members, liquid time may be implemented. Liquid time occurs when one roleplay day is stretched out over the course of multiple real life days. Liquid time may also be requested for members hoping to complete more casual roleplays, though it is afforded at mod discretion, and typically only lasts for an extra day or so.Time skips have occured in the past, but currently, ThreeClans does not implement any time skips or time jumps unless it is required.ACTIVITY EXPECTATIONS & GROUP PARTICIPATIONDue to the fact that ThreeClans is an application based roleplay in which members must be vetted and approved before joining the roleplay in limited slots, we do have activity expectations that are implemented group wide. This is done with the intent of keeping our server full of members who truly want to participate in the events and storylines carried out in our roleplay. Activity standards vary depending on how many clans or "groups" a member is a part of, and you may read more about the specifics of the activity we require in this linked document.Beyond in-character roleplay activity, ThreeClans does our best to promote out of character activity as well! One of the most fun parts of our server is simply socializing with your fellow roleplayers. Often, we hold group-wide game nights, stream movies for everyone to watch, or hop on voice calls with one another. We also often feature server wide activities such as a ThreeClans specific version of Art Fight, a yearly tradition of Secret Santa, a recent addition of a Valentines Day card exchange, and more! You are never required to participate in any of these events, but we always encourage our members to get involved in the community we have fostered within our server.ACCEPTABLE IN-ROLEPLAY THEMESGeneral content warning in this section for mentions of discrimination, abuse, problematic relationships, and more. Read at your own discretion.Homophobia, Transphobia, and Discrimination
Within the world of ThreeClans, we have made the choice to limit the real world existence of things such as homophobia, transphobia, and other forms of bigotry or discrimination. Many of our roleplayers are uncomfortable with these themes being pursued in an otherwise safe and accepting space that prioritizes LGBT voices and stories, and therefore, themes of homophobia or transphobia are not permitted in character backstories or in active roleplay.
Because of the lack of in-universe discrimination, any characters who are established as either same-gender attracted, trans, nonbinary, or otherwise GNC should not struggle with feeling judged for being who they are. Nearly every single character in our roleplay is LGBT in some regard, and their clanmates or their general company would never make them feel unsafe for being gay, trans, or GNC!Themes of Abuse, Harm, and other Sensitive Topics
Although we do allow the exploration of themes like abuse, neglect or other serious subjects to be featured in character stories, if handled with the proper care and sensitivity, ThreeClans will never permit any backstories or in-roleplay exploration of rape, incest, age gap relationships, self harm, or suicide. These topics are all considered incredibly triggering, and should not be worked into any character's past or present.
In addition, if you do choose to feature themes of abuse or neglect in a character's past or present, be sure to be respectful of how you handle such a topic. Depending on the severity of its presence in-roleplay, we may ask roleplayers to place a content warning at the top of their posts and "spoil" any relevant portions of their writing so that sensitive topics may be avoided by those who do not wish to read about them.We also ask that if you ever include blacklisted topics into your roleplay posts that you appropriately content warn and spoiler those, too. Many of our members have listed triggers that are okay in the context of roleplay but not real life, but to keep everyone safe and comfortable, we always request that you proceed with caution when exploring themes that may not typically be considered "sensitive" but still have a place on our blacklist.Real Life Cat Behaviors and TendenciesWithin the Warriors fandom, some people enjoy exploring the nature of real life cats and behaviors they may exhibit via stories, roleplaying, and other formats. Although ThreeClans is of course based on Warriors and features feline characters, we function with the understanding that these are fantasy, anthropomorphized cats, and therefore we choose to avoid any in-roleplay exploration of the more unsavory elements of cat behavior. If you are unsure as to what qualifies, feel free to DM a mod for discussion!

TIMELINE

Below, you may find a summarized version of the most significant events and openings hosted within our server. This timeline is by no means comprehensive, as hundreds upon hundreds of events have taken place over the course of our six year run time, but it may give you a simple understanding of the general progression of our arcs, openings, and plotlines!

The FALCONS
May 2016

In NettleClan's earliest days, the cats of the forests and swamps faced intense conflict. Their leader, Ryestar, was short-lived, serving only for a few moons and stirring the clan with her uncouth leadership tactics. The deputy she left behind, Deerpelt, was left to take over as Deerstar, and while he worked to recover his clan to a stable state, he received an omen in the form of a falcon, something that spoke of the arrival of a wandering group of rogues.During a mysterious illness that took hold of NettleClan and robbed them of their medicine cat, these very rogues arrived, known as The Falcons. Because of the omen Deerstar was given, they were permitted to stay with the Clan while one of their members, Rabbit, used her herbal knowledge to act as a stand-in medicine cat. Unbeknownst to NettleClan, the leader of The Falcons, Field Mouse, was planning to overthrow Deerstar and his deputy, Dapplecloud, to take over for himself. However, when the time came for The Falcons’ attack, Field Mouse was betrayed by his own group. Field Mouse was killed by Rabbit, the healer, to protect NettleClan and the bonds that The Falcons had forged within the Clan. The rogues were welcomed to become permanent members of NettleClan and Rabbit was named Rabbitheart, the new medicine cat.
